As BringBackOurGirls protests hold Oct 1: South South govs, Reps to join
AN International Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has stated
arrangement to recruit a South South governor, a prominent politician
from Adamawa state, some South West members of the House of
Representatives as well as others from the North West and North East to
stage a protest on Wednesday, October 1.
The BringBackOurGirls group revealed that it has concluded arrangements to float a massive protest on October 1.
Sources confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune that the group, at a
meeting on September 24, in Abuja, which was attended by officials of
the NGO, as well as some opposition Senators and two members of the
House of Representatives resolved to stage a protest on October 1 to
mark Day 170 of the Bring Back our Girls campaign.
It was also gathered that the group equally planned some legal steps
to ensure its plot to stop the President from contesting. “President
Goodluck Jonathan would, few months ahead of his nomination for
re-election be bombarded with legal and socio-political hurdles by
opposition, in a bid to stop him from contesting the 2015 election.
“Latest in the build-up is the decision of the group to float a
massive anti-Jonathan protest on October 1,” the source revealed.
The report also indicated that the group had recently visited the
camp of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Borno State in Inkuma
and Kabaru in Nassarawa State, where they donated some materials.
The
group was said to have concluded that it would approach some of the
displaced persons to speak at the protest rally in Abuja.
The source also revealed further that, “During the planned protest to
mark day 170 of the Chibok girls in captivity, which falls on October
1, 2014, we should include some Internally Displaced Persons, who are
camped in Nassarawa State. They are to challenge the government on the
development so far.
“We will also issue a press statement with regard to the seizure of
$9.3 million in South Africa, which has been linked to the Federal
Government.”
The group was also said to have established contacts with the Borno
State government with intent to compel the Federal Government to stop
the plan to enroll some of the rescued girls in schools within Kaduna
State, rather than Abuja or abroad.
